NEWS BOARD:
Thanks to a grant awarded to us by
We are now proud to announce a comprehensive and holistic service for anybody aged between 16 and 25 years who has in the past or who is presently experiencing mental health difficulties or emotional distress.
Our activities are offered to everyone who feel thay can participate within a supportive and safe environment... if you don't feel up to it, then thats fine too... we are here to help you get to where you want to be :)
Most of our activities can be linked into the ASDAN accreditation scheme in association with Buxton 4 Youth, enabling anybody who wants to participate to obtain a nationally recognised Entry Level qualification.
Our activities reflect three key themes... these are:
Life Skills;
Healthy Living;
Creative Development.
All our work is centred around a tailored and personalised service which runs at the pace and capabilities of those who we support.
We are also looking for volunteers to get involved!
(Remember- the ASDAN scheme is optional, your free to come along anyway!)
We also recently went into Manchester to have a look around (and shop!!) and visit the Urbis Centre of Culture to see a photographic exhibition called The Story of Hip Hop!
Rachel our Counsellor has recently joined the Making Rainbows team and offers her weekly service to young people through referral only... please Contact Us for details

Background to what we are doing now...
The 'Making Rainbows' group began as a pilot in January 2008, when The Grapevine Project charity in Buxton decided to offer support to young people as well as to the adults they already work with.
The original idea of the project was to offer something different to those who were maybe a little nervous about participating in mainstream activities such as education and work. Perhaps feelings of mistrust, anxiety and depression have made the idea of becomming part of the outside world far too daunting. We all feel like this sometimes, and there is plenty of research to suggest that this is more common than we may think. For example, one piece of evidence reports that one in five 16-25 year olds has a mental health disorder.
Making Rainbow's philosophy is one of inclusion and integration. Many young people we have spoken to who are finding it difficult to cope have said they don't want to feel they way they do any longer... that their dream is to feel confident enough to become involved in all the things that their peers are involved in.
We will work at your pace.
We are an independent organisation who can offer a whole range of opportunities and services
to help you feel confident enough to follow your dreams.
